- Joe M.Just completed maiden voyage with Texas power paddle Mako Gen 2 installed on my old Feathercraft Big Kahuna sit inside soft skin kayak. Worked as advertised and I'm very pleased with it. On a 25 lb kayak it gives you a lot of speed, but more importantly, TPP provided the silent-running, hands-free slow speed maneuverability that I needed for wildlife photography while on the water. Plus, after the one hour test run it's still at 97% charge. I couldn't be happier with the product and returned to the dock with hundreds of pictures that I couldn't have gotten otherwise. No more spooking sea otters, birds and seals with flashing kayak paddles. Nicely done Texas power paddle.
I purchased the Marlin system for my Hobie PA12 360 which is pretty much the same thing as this. First off it was prolly one of the easiest things I’ve ever installed on the kayak. It is truly a plug n play system. Now It’s no speed demon but for what it is and what it does and how small it is I was really impressed. My kayak is pretty heavy loaded with all my gear and I was still able to get 2.8-3 mph with the throttle at approximately 75% while not doing any pedaling and if I barely pedaled I could easily get 4 mph. I fished an 8 hour tournament and was on the throttle pretty much all day for a round trip of 9.3 miles and still had 48% battery remaining when I got back to the ramp which I was amazed by. Over all I have no regrets whatsoever. The shipping was fast, the product was well packaged and the instructions were good. The only thing I wish I had done different was buy the case stand for it. Overall I’m completely satisfied with it and would totally recommend one to anybody looking for a trolling motor option.
